Mumbai: The BCCI has officially announced the IPL 2027 mega auction calendar, confirming a ₹200 crore franchise purse limit - up from ₹100 crore - setting the stage for record-breaking bids.
Star agents say Virat Kohli's base price of ₹20 crore is almost certain to be eclipsed, with Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings all in the running.

Bidding intelligence suggests at least two franchises have internally cleared budgets above ₹50 crore specifically for Kohli, which would easily surpass Shreyas Iyer's existing record of ₹26.75 crore.
Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma, both in the unsold player pool following their franchise releases, are also expected to attract competitive bids in the ₹30-40 crore range.
The new franchise purse structure and introduction of a 'marquee player' designation for the top five stars are expected to make the 2027 auction the most-watched in IPL history.
